Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL)

BHEL, established more than 40 years ago, is today the largest engineering and manufacturing enterprise in India in the energy-related / infrastructure sector. BHEL caters to the core sectors of the Indian economy, viz. Power, Transmission, Industry, Transportation, Renewable Energy, Oil & Gas and Defence.

  • 800 Graduate Engineers are required by BHEL for the position of Engineers Trainee in the following disciplines: Mechanical - 550, Electrical - 175, Electronics - 75
  • Candidates who wish to apply for Engineer Trainee position in BHEL for the year 2012-13 will be required to take GATE 2012
  • The scores obtained in GATE 2012 will be utilized by BHEL for inviting candidates for a personal interview
  • Candidates will have to separately apply online to BHEL after 04/01/2012 and give their GATE 2012 registration numbers.
  • The CTC (total compensation) for Engineer Trainees will be between Rs 7.5 Lakhs and Rs 8.8 Lakhs per annum.

How to Apply:

  • Candidates who wish to apply for Engineer Trainee position in BHEL for the year 2012-13 will be required to take the Graeduate Aptitude Test fo Engineering - 2012 (GATE-2012) which has been advertised in the newspapers on 11th September 2011.
  • The scores obtained in GATE-2012 will be utilized by BHEL for inviting candidates for a Personal Interview for consideration for the position of Engineer Trainees.
  • After submitting applications for GATE-2012, candidates will be allotted Registration No.
  • Candidates will have to separately apply on-line to BHEL for which BHEL recruitment website http://carrers.bhel.in wiil be activated from 04/01/2012
  • In BHEL on-line applications, candidates will have to give their GATE-2012 registration No.

Selection Process: Selection process will comprise fo GATE 2012 score of the candidates in the concerned disciplines & performance in Interview

  • The candidates will be shortlisted for interview on the basis of GATE - 2012 score in order of merit in the ratio of 1:3 to the number of vacancies in each discipline and category.
  • Final selection panels shall be prepared by assigning a weightage of 75% for GATE - 2012 score and 25% to Interview marks.

At Project Sites Rs.8.8 lakhs / annum

Eligibility Criteria :

  • Full time regular Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology from a recognized Indian University/ Institute in the disciplines of ME,EC and EE.
  • Minimum 65% or Equivalent CGPA in aggregate of all years/semesters.
  • Age Limit: 27 Years Engineer (Candidates born before Trainee 01/08/1984 are not eligible to apply)
    Note : 29 years for Post Graduates of Engg. or Business Admn./Management. (Candidates born before 01/08/1982 are not eligible to apply)

Selection Process :

  • Selection process will consist of Written Test and Personal Interview.
  • All eligible candidates will be invited for written test at their own expense. The Written Test papers will be objective type in nature and will be bilingual i.e. in Hindi & English. Thereafter, the candidates will be called for personal interview in the ratio of 1:3 to the no. of vacancies in order of merit of Written Test Marks.
  • After this, candidates belonging to OBC/SC/ST categories, who are not shortlisted for interview as UR, shall be regrouped with their respective categories for further consideration and candidates will be called for interview in the prescribed ratio.

Emoluments for Engineer Trainee :
The Selected Candidates will be placed on training for one year. During training, basic pay of Rs. 20600/- in the scale of pay of Rs. 20600-46500/- will be paid. After successful completion of training, the trainees will be absorbed as Engineer in the scale of pay of Rs. 24900-50500/- with a basic pay of Rs. 24900/-.

Important dates:

  • Commencement of on-line submission of applications: 1st August, 2011.
  • Closing of on-line submission of Applications : 20th August, 2011.
  • Last date of receipt of Ack. Slips at BHEL, BAP Ranipet: 24th August, 2011.
  • Issue of Permission Slips for Written Test: 3rd September 2011.

The Candidates belonging to General and OBC categories have to pay non-refundable fees of Rs 500/-
