GATE (The Graduate
Aptitude Test in Engineering) is an All India Examination
conducted by the seven Indian Institutes of Technology
and the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
About 1.5 Lakh students
give GATE Exam every year. GATE Exam is conducted for
21 streams. The competition in CS and ECE streams is
comparatively much more than in other streams. In ECE,
for example, around 35000 students appear for the exam,
whereas for IT around 4000 students appear for the exam.
The GATE 2008 exam
will be 3 hours duration and will be held from 09.30
am to 12.30 pm on 10th of February, 2008.
The GATE paper is totally
objective type with 85 questions. Questions include
one marks and two marks questions. Question types include
data based questions, linked questions, assertion reasoning
kind of questions and match the following kind of questions.
Most of the questions have 25% negative marking.
